Everything including the kitchen sink... but with special attention paid to board games, Jesus Christ, my family, being a "professional" (and I use that word loosely) Christian, and the random firing of the 10% of the synapses I'm currently using.

Battle Royale
The new jungle terrain for Heroscape is in... and Braeden & I created a monster-sized board to fight on. This is the view from his side of the battle... you can see his red dragon flying towards the bridge & his Onyx Vipers working their way through the swamp on the right hand side of the board. The objective is to get to the magic pool hidden inside the castle & take a vial of the fluid off the other (my) side of the board.
On the other side of the board, over in Markland, my giant fly is moving to opposed the dragon, while my Ashigaru spearmen & gunners get ready to defend the road. There's also some samuari in the swamps below the castle.
Each of us have 1210 pt armies... and are playing with two sets of order markers per turn. I'll keep you guys updated on how the battle goes!
Awesome!
ReplyDeleteHow much Heroscape do you own?
ReplyDeleteI have all the figures (except Skahen, the giveaway at Origins/GenCon this summer) + some duplicate sets (Drones, Vipers, Romans, etc.)
ReplyDeleteI have the following terrain:
- 2 Master Set #1 (RotV)
- 1 Master Set #2 (SotM)
- 1 Marvel Heroscape
- 2 Volcarren Wasteland
- 1 Fortress of the Archkyrie
- 1 Thalank Tundra
- 2 Road to the Forgotten Forest
- 2 Ticalla Jungle
We used pretty much everything but the snow & the molten lava for this battlefield.
That is so amazingly cool!
ReplyDeleteNothing better to play with you r 10 year old than a HUGE Heroscape battle. We may never use the ping pong table for it's intended use again...
ReplyDeleteHow high does Heroscape rank on your games' list, and is it appropriate for a 5-year old?

ReplyDeleteGood questions, Jason.
If you're referring to my personal choices, Heroscape is probably in my top 20. OTOH, if you're referring to the Kid Games 100, Heroscape does not appear on the list. The recommended age is 8+ and the game is at it's best played with adults, which is one of the criteria I had for eliminating games from the 100.
"Appropriate" is in the eye of the beholder... Braeden took to it pretty well at age 5 - but he's been around games/gaming all of his life AND I don't have a problem with fantasy/sci-fi stories. For families who are stricter about their young kids being around those kind of elements, Heroscape is probably a no-go.
