Why It's On The List
  • In my Opinionated Gamers review of Pandemic Legacy: Season One, I described it as the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup of Games: "...combining the exquisite nail-biting tension of Pandemic with the surprises and story arc of Risk Legacy is a stroke of genius." That goes double for Season Two, which introduces new mechanisms and an even more wide-ranging story.
Tips & Tricks:
    • The "alpha player problem" is not the game's fault... it's a player issue. Don't be that guy. (BTW, this is true for all cooperative games - rule #1 is "Don't be a pushy dork if you want to enjoy cooperative gaming.")
    • This is not "classic" Pandemic... and it took us a couple of games to get the hang of the very creative way Rob Daviau & Matt Leacock messed with our expectations of how the game would "work".
    • Rob shared on The Ascent of Board Games podcast that Season Three is done and is with the publisher... no specific release date yet. He also shared that this is a trilogy - they have no plans for a fourth season.
    Extras
    • If you want to read my entire review of Season One (which we loved), it's right here.
    • And here's what I wrote about the genius of Risk Legacy... back when it was the very first "legacy" game.
    • For a variety of reasons, we haven't yet completed Season Two... but every game of it has been brutal and wonderful and completely immersive.
